  • A woman with long curly red hair is wearing a white flower crown. She is under the night sky and there are stars around her head. Her chest is open as if she is having heart surgery and medical implements hold her skin open revealing her heart. Two arteries travel from the heart, through her hair and finish by her eyes, each dripping blood as if they are tears. The blood is running down her face. In front of her naked form are fig leaves which cover her breasts. She is the moth, attracted to false light.

There is blood in front of her as if her heart has been ripped out. Next to her, in the place where her husband should be is an empty coffin with the lid off.

  • A golden Age of Couture. This is an abstract painting of a woman dancing. The body was drawn moving and dancing over and over again and then yellows and oranges were applied between the lines in sections of colour. This painting was done over a postcard of women dressed in 1950's couture. The ladies on the postcard were painted out except for their heads.

  • A small girl is watched by judging eyes, they are on a red thread, waving in the air and going left to right across the blue sky. There are horizontal red stitches in the girls mouth. Disempowering her from speech, but not thought. This painting is inspired by the Scandinavian tale of the Wyrd Sisters.

  • Collage painting, mixed media. Top right a volcano is erupting, underneath it are waves of red hair, Frida's ear from a painting. Below that there are giant cactuses and at the bottom right are abstract paint bottles, representations of Frida's table in her studio. Upon the table is an image of Frida Kahlo's portrait mirror and the reflection in it is a side profile of Red. Her blue dress with orange flowers is also reflected in the mirror. Frida's hand touches Red's cheek and behind Red are plants from one of Frida's paintings. There is a large hibiscus flower in the top left corner of the mirror, it is Pink Below the imagery in the bottom section of the paining are the words "I followed your example and it led to me painting myself in your mirror" in both English and Mexican Spanish

The body was drawn moving and dancing over and over again and then yellow, black, cream and red was applied between the lines in sections of colour. This painting was done over a 1960 magazine advert of a woman applying cream to her perfect skin.She was painted out except for her left eye, which is now peeking through the dancing woman.

  • A painting of a ceramic figure that is house in Diego Rivera's temple in Mexico City. The figure is teracotta and has a wide head like a cartoon bear, its made up of horizontal stripes in terracotta and white. Above the head of the little figure is the word "Reclaimed" and the background is collage and floral.

Over it is a heart, wrapped by thorny stems, taken from a painting by Frida Kahlo. Underneath are two orangey red roses and between them are drops of blood coming from the heart. Att he top of the heart is a crown and to the left of the heart a bee is sitting. At the top of the painting are the words "House, Home Management"

The woman has dark eyeliner and red lipstick. The background is a collage of images of women graduating, a policaman playing chess and words such as "Politics" and "a war not over yet"

This painting was done over a magazine advert of a woman looking beautiful at a party. The party scene was painted out and all that remains of the advert is a glass of beer and the woman's eyes.

  • C100, the title of the paining is also the number of the form for a family court hearing. The sky is blue with a large cloud. In the sky is a bowler hat and a beard. To the left of the hat is a hand holding a glitter ball which has a waterfall. The bottom half of the painting is a desert landscape with tall cactus with branching arms scattered around. In a clearing is an abandoned old fashioned childs trike in red and blue with white wheels. This symbolises the archaic family court system and the bureaucracy which surrounds the family courts during domestic abuse cases.

  • A bright royal blue background (the colour of Frida Kahlo's house) sits behined three collaged giant cactuses which are formed from a page from a book and the text is visible under the green and white details on each cactus. To the left of the cactuses are the words, cut out of magazines and they state "Fate", "Phenomena" and "Dreams"

“We Learnt to Fly” is a collection of paintings by Red which document her recovery from domestic abuse from initial break up through PTSD and illness all the way to Mexico City on an Arts Council England funded trip to Mexico City. The collection was exhibited in the Garrison Gallery, Maker Heights, Cornwall in Nov 2023 and is due to go on show again in early 2025.
