There is blood in front of her as if her heart has been ripped out. Next to her, in the place where her husband should be is an empty coffin with the lid off.

A golden Age of Couture. This is an abstract painting of a woman dancing. The body was drawn moving and dancing over and over again and then yellows and oranges were applied between the lines in sections of colour. This painting was done over a postcard of women dressed in 1950's couture. The ladies on the postcard were painted out except for their heads.

A War Not Over Yet. A small Jack Russell dog has the head of a woman. Her lead is made from an orange belt which is being held outside the picture so you can not see a hand holding it. The woman has dark eyeliner and red lipstick. The background is a collage of images of women graduating, a policaman playing chess and words such as "Politics" and "a war not over yet"

A War Not Over Yet. A small Jack Russell dog has the head of a woman. Her lead is made from an orange belt which is being held outside the picture so you can not see a hand holding it. This was painted after Red saw an advert for a belt that was around a womans neck in the same way as the painting.

I Followed Your Example

Below that there are giant cactuses which Red saw outside Frida's house, and at the bottom right are abstract paint bottles, representations of Frida's table in her studio. Upon the table is an image of Frida Kahlo's portrait mirror and the reflection in it is a side profile of Red. Her blue dress with orange flowers is also reflected in the mirror. Frida's hand touches Red's cheek in a gentle act of support representing the impact that Frida has had on Red and her artwork collection. Behind Red are plants from one of Frida's paintings. There is a large hibiscus flower in the top left corner of the mirror, representing the flower Red studied while on a residency in Mexico. We Learnt to Fly is written in white text to the top right of this painting of a red boot. The boot belonged to Frida Kahlo and has embroidered flowers and shapes on the front of the boot and a bell is attached with a sky blue ribbon

We Learnt to Fly was inspired by Red's visit to Frida Kahlo's House where she saw Frida's boot, a symbol of her amputee experience and her words, "who needs limbs when you can learn how to fly".

A small girl is watched by judging eyes, they are on a red thread, waving in the air and going left to right across the blue sky. There are horizontal red stitches in the girls mouth. Disempowering her from speech, but not thought. This painting is inspired by the Scandinavian tale of the Wyrd Sisters.
Wyrd
In Nordic Folklore the Wyrd sisters attend the birth of every child and weave its fate. The horizontal threads cannot be controlled by the child, but the vertical threads can. A small girl is watched by judging eyes, this she cannot control. There are vertical red stitches in the girls mouth, disempowering her from speech, but not thought.
